SET DESIGNER OR OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD
scope of work
Crave Theatre is seeking a Set Designer for the stage premiere of Our Dear Dead Drug Lord written by Alexis Scheer and directed by Cambria Herrera.
This position serves as a collaborative role with the Director. All of the responsibilities below will be shared with the Director as they see fit.
- Work with the creative team to develop a cohesive design concept upon which to base a complementary set design.
- Produce plans, drawings and models to guide the set construction by the Technical Director and to ensure creative team understands Contractor’s design concept.
- Prepare an estimate of set costs while working within the budgetary restrictions.
- Manage the Set Budget in collaboration with the Technical Director.
- Attend Set Meetings with the Technical Director as needed.
- Work with Technical Director to ensure timely construction of set.
- Be present to aid in strike unless agreed upon otherwise.
- Attend tech week in-person to install set to ensure accurate interpretation of your design.
- Abide by Crave Theatre’s Code of Conduct throughout the contracting period.
- Adhere to all OSHA and CDC health and safety protocols to avoid injury and to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

About the show
The Story:
“Our Dear Dead Drug Lord” tells the story of four teenage girls who organize the Dead Leaders Club meetings, hoping to summon the spirit of Pablo Escobar and gain power over their own lives. As they perform a makeshift ritual, they are forced to confront their own secrets and desires, leading to a thrilling and unexpected climax.
Since its premiere in 2019, “Our Dear Dead Drug Lord” has received many accolades, including being named a New York Times Critics’ Pick and winning the 2019 Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding New Script.

compensation
This is a contract position. Compensation is $2200, $450 paid on signing, $450 paid upon show opening, and the remainder paid at the end of run.
